I offer one-on-one coaching that pushes authors out of their comfort zone. Your second book doesn't have to be a repeat of your first. Want to experiment with form? Deepen your voice? Say what's hardest to name? I can help you do that.
Stuck mid-project or at the starting block? I'll help you map Book Two's message and regain momentum. Includes three rounds of written feedback, video calls, assignments, and deadlines.
Next: Continue writing on your own, or sign up for ongoing coaching.
I’ll provide detailed feedback on structure, voice, and clarity, along with practical next steps. I’ll also read your first book, so I can understand how you've grown as a writer, and where you might take your writing next.
Next: Continue revising on your own, or sign up for Ongoing Book Coaching.
For writers who've completed the blueprint or manuscript revision and want sustained support. We meet either two or four times per month, and each session includes written feedback.
You’re feeling the weight of your first book’s success (or its silence).
You have too many ideas for Book Two and can’t pick one.
Or not enough ideas. You’re convinced you’ve already said everything worth saying.
You're sprinting toward a deadline, either external or self-imposed.
Your agent/editor/accountability buddy is on your case.
You've written a Book Two draft (partial or full) and something's not right.
You sense there's something deeper you haven't written yet.
You’re eager to dive in and bring your most ambitious book to life, but the path forward feels unclear.
What exactly is book coaching?
Book coaching combines developmental editing, creative mentorship, and accountability. We work iteratively and collaboratively, with regular check-ins and coaching calls. I say more about this here.
When should I start working with a book coach?
Anytime. For the Blueprint Challenge, you don’t need a full draft. You don’t even need a full book idea. For the Manuscript Revision, we can work off a first draft or a fifteenth. You'll get value either way.
Why work with a coach on my second book if I didn't work with one for my first?
For the same reasons athletes work with coaches as they progress. You’re not a beginner anymore. Of course you could keep writing on your own—but you’ll grow faster with a coach who helps you stay consistent and holds the bigger vision for what’s possible.
I’ve already published more than two books. Would we still be a good fit?
Possibly. While I specialize in second books, the challenges of Book Two—navigating new expectations, evolving your voice, and sustaining creative growth—tend to return with each new project. If you're ready to take a creative risk and deepen your writing practice, I’d love to hear more.
Do you work with writers who aren’t published yet?
Occasionally, yes. If you’re already writing at a high level and are ready to challenge yourself creatively, I’d love to hear more. Please link to a writing sample (minimum 10 double-spaced pages) when applying.
Do you work with self-published authors?
Yes. I work with authors who’ve published traditionally, independently, and through hybrid models.
I'm writing genre fiction. Will you still work with me?
I’m not the best fit for coaching genre fiction. I specialize in nonfiction (memoir, narrative nonfiction, and knowledge-share books) and select literary fiction. If you’re unsure whether your project is a good match, feel free to reach out. If we’re not a fit, I'll refer you to another coach in my network.
Will you read my first book?
Yes. I read your first book before we begin so I can understand your voice, values, and vision, and then help you evolve them in Book Two. I see the second book not as a standalone project, but as part of a larger arc in your writing life.
How long does coaching usually last?
It depends on your book and your timeline. The Blueprint Challenge and Manuscript Revision typically last a couple months. After that, we may choose to continue working together month-to-month. We’ll clarify your initial needs during your free consultation.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 30-minute call so we can talk about your book, your goals, and whether we’re a good match. It’s low-pressure and designed to help both of us make an informed decision.
Not sure which service is right for you? Let's talk about it. This call is your chance to get a taste of book coaching. And if you're already familiar with book coaching, it's a taste of book coaching with me.
