THE NO-SLUMP BLUEPRINT CHALLENGE TIMELINE
Weeks 1-3: Author Portrait + Book Two Blueprint
You'll begin by completing your Author Portrait, a powerful reflection tool to help you identify who you are as a writer now, and how you want to grow in Book Two. From there, you’ll move into the Book Two Blueprint (a customized and expanded version of Author Accelerator’s acclaimed Blueprint for a Book Method), to help clarify what you're writing, who you're writing it for, why, and how, exactly.

Weeks 4–5: Feedback + First Assignment
In response to your Author Portrait and Book Two Blueprint, you’ll receive a comprehensive editorial letter and in-line comments. Then we'll meet for a 90-minute video call to answer your questions, unpack my feedback, clarify your next steps, and co-create a revision assignment that fits your goals and capacity.

You'll revise and resubmit your work. Then you'll receive another round of written feedback and one-on-one video coaching. And then you'll have the opportunity to revise and receive feedback again!

This two-month intensive is designed for second-time authors with a full draft of Book Two that's ready for revision. In the role of your developmental editor, I’ll evaluate your manuscript for structure, pacing, and voice, shaping it into a compelling, cohesive whole.
I'll also go beyond traditional developmental editing. Together, we’ll examine not just the manuscript in front of you, but also the one behind you. By revisiting your first book, we’ll uncover how your voice and vision have evolved: what you’re building toward, what you’re letting go of, and how Book Two can mark a bold step forward.
And you won’t just receive feedback. You’ll have the chance to put that feedback into action, because true creative growth happens through iteration. After revising your draft, you'll get a second, complementary round of revision.
You’ll leave with a sharper, more resonant draft and a deeper understanding of your artistic trajectory.
What’s included:
My full read of your manuscript and your first book
Custom mapping and reflection tools for clarifying your vision for Book Two
Personalized editorial letters and in-line comments
Two private coaching calls (plus two optional mid-process calls)
Option to revise and receive a second manuscript review at no additional charge
THE 720° MANUSCRIPT REVISION TIMELINE
Week 1: Manuscript Submission + Reflection Tools
You'll begin by completing an Author Portrait and mini Book Two Blueprint—two powerful reflection tools that help us clarify how you've changed since Book One and your creative intentions for Book Two. You'll submit these two worksheets alongside your full manuscript.
Weeks 2-3: Full Review + Comparative Reading
I’ll review your completed worksheets, your full Book Two draft, and your first book. I’ll be looking not just for what’s working or what’s missing, but also for how Book Two reflects your growth since Book One. My feedback is designed to honor both where you’ve been and where you’re going.
Week 4: Feedback + Strategy Session
You’ll receive in-line comments and an editorial letter outlining strengths, gaps, and revision priorities. Then we’ll meet for a 90-minute coaching call to unpack my feedback, co-create a revision strategy, and address any questions about what comes next.
Weeks 5-6: Revision
You’ll revise your manuscript based on our strategy, focusing on the growth arc you’ve committed to.
Week 7: Second Review
Once you resubmit your revised manuscript, I’ll review all changes with fresh eyes. I'll track your progress and identify what's working (and what isn't) at a deep level.
Week 8: Final Feedback + Closing Call
You’ll receive a second round of written feedback and join me for another 90-minute coaching call. Together, we’ll reflect on what you’ve achieved, what still feels unfinished, and where to go from here.
You'll walk away with:
A sharper, more resonant draft of Book Two
Personalized revision strategies grounded in your own goals
A deeper understanding of your creative evolution
Clarity on what’s next for you as a writer

We'll end with a coaching call to unpack my feedback and clarify your next steps.

This service is exclusively for writers who have completed the Blueprint Challenge or Manuscript Revision. I'll continue to push your creative edge and hold you accountable, so you actually finish this book. Each session includes written feedback on up to 20 pages, a private video call, and customized assignments. We’ll meet either twice or four times per month, depending on your pace and needs. Either way, you'll make meaningful progress every month.
What exactly is book coaching?
Book coaching combines developmental editing, creative mentorship, and accountability. We work iteratively and collaboratively, with regular check-ins and coaching calls. Read my full definition of book coaching here.
When should I start working with a book coach?
Anytime. For the Blueprint Challenge, you don’t need a full draft. You don’t even need a full book idea. For the Manuscript Review, we can work off a first draft or a fifteenth. You'll get value either way.
Why work with a coach on my second book if I didn't work with one for my first?
For the same reasons athletes work with coaches as they progress. You’re not a beginner anymore. Of course you could keep writing on your own—but you’ll grow faster with a coach who helps you stay consistent and holds the bigger vision for what’s possible.
I’ve already published more than two books. Would we still be a good fit?
Possibly. While I specialize in second books, the challenges of Book Two (navigating new expectations and sustaining creative growth) tend to return with each new project. If you're ready to take a creative risk and deepen your writing practice, I’d love to hear more.
Do you work with writers who aren’t published yet?
Occasionally, yes. If you’re already writing at a high level and are ready to challenge yourself creatively, I’d love to hear more. Please link to a writing sample (minimum 10 double-spaced pages) when applying.
Do you work with self-published authors?
Yes. I work with authors who’ve published traditionally, independently, and through hybrid models.
I'm writing genre fiction. Will you still work with me?
I’m not the best fit for coaching genre fiction. I specialize in nonfiction (memoir, narrative nonfiction, and knowledge-share books) and select literary fiction. If you’re unsure whether your project is a good match, feel free to reach out. If we’re not a fit, I'll refer you to another coach in my network.
Will you read my first book?
Yes. I read your first book before we begin so I can understand your voice, values, and vision, and then help you evolve them in Book Two. I see the second book not as a standalone project, but as part of a larger arc in your writing life.
How long does coaching usually last?
It depends on your book and your timeline. The Blueprint Challenge and Manuscript Review typically last a couple months. After that, we may choose to continue working together month-to-month. We’ll clarify your initial needs during your free consultation.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 30-minute call so we can talk about your book, your goals, and whether we’re a good match. It’s low-pressure and designed to help both of us make an informed decision.
